Cage free pet iguana!

My older brother once had a massive Iguana that went everywhere my brother did. We never had a cage for the car, because iguanas can become so long they don’t fit in one of those little car cages. Instead of a cage Iggy the iguana would ride up front on the dash above the heating unit. Most people worry that the iguana would run in the car, but if you turn on the heat and let them sit, they will not move an inch. My brother had one of those harnesses for Iguanas and wanted to go into Wal-mart. He thought leaving an animal in the car was cruel so he took Iggy in with him to shop for kale, Iggy’s favorite food. The staff was very friendly and had no issue with the animal being in the store.

There were a couple of kids that wanted to pet him, so if you plan to walk your iguana in the middle of the store, beware of tiny hands that may want to pick him up. The lesson in all of this is that Iggy had great freedom and was never in a cage. Sure, he had heating rocks and all the things that go along with Iguanas, but he had free roam in rooms that had been iguana proofed. When compared to iguanas that had cages, Iggy grew faster, especially his tail. He also did not have as many health issues compared to caged iguanas, such as wounds from having claws or tail stuck in cage holes. It just goes to show that some animals will only grow as big as their environment allows and iguanas are no exception.
