Caught red-handed with crested gecko

Though my parents have always been opposed to the idea of a
lizard as a pet, I took the initiative to give my 13
year-old brother a crested gecko for his birthday last
summer. My mother was, to put it gently, very angry that I
had taken this liberty and promised that I would come to
regret it. For months on end she would occasionally bring up
the topic and remind me how much she could not stand
"Grumpy" and that she was going to get revenge on me for
buying that lizard. One day I woke up to a knock on my door.
I wasn't expecting anyone, so I was really surprised when I
found my little brother there, excited as could be to show
me what he had with him in an envelope.

In the envelope were pictures he had taken, unbeknownst to my mother, of her petting Grumpy and letting him crawl on her shoulders. He said mom was on her way over because she had a strange rash on her hands and shoulders she wanted me to look at. (I am a nurse). My brother had dipped Grumpy's feet in pineapple
juice, which my mother is very allergic to, in an attempt to
catch her red-handed enjoying the lizard. I had to explain
this to my mom, who, not surprisingly, no longer harasses me
for having bought the lizard.
