Crested gecko shedding

One evening, we watched our pet crested gecko shed. We'd been told when we got him, that we'd be unlikely to ever actually see him shedding, just that we might not notice him looking a little pale before shedding then the next day, much more vibrant. However, that night, when we went to feed him (brown crickets, his
favourite!), he had a translucent grey hood peeled back. Over the next 15 minutes or so he slowly squirmed and wriggled out of his skin, tugging the last bits off his digits with a surprising fervour.

Over the space of about quarter of an hour, we watched our crested gecko remove and eat his old, slightly wrinkled
skin and when he was done, his colours were deep and vibrant again. We managed to catch a few nice photos, but mostly just sat back and watched this rare spectacle. Afterwards, we fed him his crickets and left him to enjoy his meal. Some lizards have a tendency to nipple or consume their skin they shed, crested geckos
happen to be one of them!
