iguana tale (tail)
When I was younger, I had a pet iguana. Much to my mother's dismay, I let it run around the house when I came home from school. She used to constantly remind me to be careful with it because it was so small, and it could easily be injured. One day, I let it run around the living room for a while. The room was small
enough that I didn't have to worry about little Iggy the iguana getting lost or stuck in any small spaces. Little did I know that Iggy was able to fit under the half inch gap of the couch. When it got stuck halfway, I quickly pulled its tail to keep it from going further under the couch. The tail came off, and I became hysterical. My mother ran into the room to see what happened, and she started laughing uncontrollably. I told her, through tears, that I had just killed my pet. She explained how and why lizards lose their tails. The concept made me sick inside, and I spent the next month begging my mother to buy me a nice poodle.
