Leopard gecko safety tip!
My sons and I are the proud owners of a leopard gecko, we also have 2 dogs and a cat. Spring is here and we noticed one of our dogs had gotten outside and gotten fleas. In order to stop
the flea attack in our house we went to the store and bought flea bomb kits. We took the dogs and cat to my mothers house, but figured if we covered up the gecko's cage he would be
okay...according to the flea bomb package he would be! So, we covered the leopard gecko, set off the bombs and got out of our house. We came back home after the 4 hours the flea bomb box
said to be gone for with our dogs and cat.
When we entered all seemed okay until we uncovered
our leopard gecko who was white and laying very still. I picked him up and panicked for I believed he was dead. Off we ran to the emergency vet just in case. We found out he was in
fact not dead, but in a comotose shock stage due to the flea bomb. I was irrate! My kids love their leopard gecko who they named and Aflack and now we may lose him even though I read the
directions on the flea bomb box and it said to cover all fish and reptile cages and they would be fine.
They were wrong!!! Our leopard gecko, I am proud to say is home and doing much better but we could have lost him if we would not have uncovered him when we did and ran him right to
the vet! The flea bomb place lied to us and to all of you so please if you have a leopard gecko, or any such animal do not let off a flea bomb in your home without first removing the animal or checking with your vet!!
