SPYRO -the Iguana

by Colton Longstreth
(United states Rushville Ohio)

Ok well im 15 and i live in ohio. This is how I acquired spyro, I was at school and I over heard a 12th grader talking about how she was going to let this lizard go and me having two ball pythons I knew that just lettin a lizard go in ohio wouldn't survive, so i spoke up and asked her what kind it was. she said it was an iguana! I had asked why she was getting rid of it she said he/she was 'mean' and she didn't know it was going to get so big, and take so much care. well i got home that day and searched the net for whatever I could find about iguanas. I ended up doing none of my school work at home. I did my home work on iguanas for 3 weeks straight before he/she actually arrived! he arrived in the dead of winter -i grabbed him out of the box, wrapped him up in a blanket and decided to name him spyro, you know the playstation 1 game with the little purple dragon haha!

Me having an A in shop I decided to build him a decent sized cage, with some help of my mom's boy friend we got the job done for only 76 bucks! Made from oak and 6ft long aluminum sheets cut to size, and chicken wire for extra climbing room. I know the cage won't be big enough for the rest of his life so i guess it's till he out grows it. The cage is 5 foot long and 3 1/2 feet tall i think. But anyway since i've gotten him he's grown a whole 6 inches. He doesn't like the color pink he turns but he's actually not mean at all -he hates carrots loves grapes as treats, and is always intrested in my moms chihuahua haha -well that's spyros story!!!

Spyro <3 NEW
by: Ashley C. Oaks

WOOOW COLTON I love your story for Spyro and he does deserve to have a great owner like you with a big heart. That little guy is really lucky to have you because i remember when you brought him home and told me and Kaylie how mistreated he was and what you were going to do to change his life. Now, he's all our favorite pet. He's a really fast runner and loves to climb around on EVERYTHING. But, the fastest I ever see him run is when u open up the cage and put some food in the bowl; because he comes racing over and starts chowing down. I don't understand how something that small can eat that fast or that much. Spyro is such a high spirited igauna and nothing could get him down. Colton you've really changed his life and I know if he could talk he would have alot to say. And I know what he would say first "THANK YOU"...
...so there couldn't be a better owner or friend for Spyro than you...
