The great iguana escape!!

My brother used to have an iguana when we were teenagers, and one day poor Iggy escaped from his cage when Steve was cleaning it. We hurried and closed all the doors to the outside so he wouldn't get out into the garden, and then we went looking for him all over the house. We checked especially the high places, like drapes and curtain rods etc., and the low places, like under the sofa and
the fridge. Eventually we figured out that Iggy was hiding under the kitchen cabinets ? there was a small opening under there, but impossible to get to him. So we set up a trap for him on the kitchen floor, since we figured that he would come out looking for warmth when it got colder as night fell.

So we had a source of heat (a lamp in a box), a bowl of water and some cherries all laid out and then we settled in for the wait, sitting quietly with some books to read and a travel cage waiting for the little guy. At about three in the morning Iggy the iguana finally stuck his little head out of the hole in the cabinetbase. A little later he came crawling out of there, and went straight to the cherries and the warm, cozy lamp. When he was all the way there, it was a piece of cake to grab him and move him to the travel cage, and then transport him to his home.
So it all turned out ok.

Smart idea NEW

The trap set up was a really good idea. My Iguana has gotten loose a few times too and it can be really rad to find her. Glad you found him and he is safe. :)
